Bye Australia!
I’m on the plane to Africa! It’s funny, this time thing, because it’s sunny this whole 14hr flight; it feels like one really long afternoon! A few hours after connecting in South Africa I arrive in Lusaka and am greeted by some friendly faces from the SIM Zambia. It’s dark so I can’t see much as we drive to the mission base where I am to stay for a few days, and I’m very sleepy...
yeah! I'm in Lusaka
Where Anja and I stayed at Lusaka
I spent the next couple of days with Anja and Fynn who are also coming to Mukinge. Sunday morning was our first experience of an African church service – it wasn’t as long as I expected!
We went for a walk in Kaunda Square which is the closest market. It was very crowded. Everywhere people are selling charcoal, talk time, and vegetables. I see many African women on the way to market in their colourful kisapis (skirt) and I love the brightness of their dress! I am fascinated by the ‘biblical’ shop names.
Kaunda Square, Lusaka
Over the next couple of days we do some orientation, meet more missionaries in Zambia, and do a huge shop for food supplies that are unavailable at Mukinge. As we drive around Lusaka I notice people riding bicycles hugely overloaded with maize, lots of dust, a lack of signage and everywhere, the blue and white minibuses- which are emblazoned with slogans such as ‘God’s Time only , is the Best!’.
After a lovely dinner with the friendly team in Lusaka
Africa is awesome! Thanks God for bringing me here :)
